Consider this your official invitation to RSVP now and join me on Sunday, August 16th at 1:00 pm EDT for our second virtual brunch…this time to celebrate each other and culinary icon, Julia Child.
Here are a few details you’ll want to know:
There is no charge to Dames for this event, but as a courtesy we ask that if you register please attend. You may also invite and register guests for a $25.00 charge (these monies going to the LDEI Relief Fund).
Why wait? RSVP here right now! Then mark your calendar.
And since we all love a contest, why not enter our “Dress Up Like Julia” contest? Open to all who register, with the top 5 winners receiving prizes from Le Creuset!
Details for the pre-judged “Dress Up Like Julia” contest here.
The event begins at 1pm EST, with a live CookAlong with Dame Megan Forman (New Orleans) from Gracious Bakery. Megan’s recipe is for a decadent Chocolate Mousse…a favorite of Julia.
While you and the mousse are chilling…grab a glass of your favorite wine from Cakebread Cellars. Our Grande Dame Dolores Cakebread recommends the following wines, perfect for brunch or anytime, from Cakebread Cellars:
Two Creeks Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley
Dancing Bear Ranch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley
And, as a special thank you to our Dames, Cakebread Cellars is offering us a 10% discount for the month of August. Use the coupon code LDEI to purchase when visiting https://www.cakebread.com/shop.
It is also my pleasure to once again welcome Tito’s Handmade Vodka as a sponsor. Truly a vodka to be savored, we thank Tito’s and champion their overarching goal to “Turn Spirits into Love & Goodness”.
We are also pleased to welcome Michter’s Distillery as a new sponsor, distilling fine American whiskey, bourbon and rye with a proud historical legacy tracing back to the founding of America’s first whiskey company in 1753.
While you sip and savor any of the above, enjoy the panel discussion on ethnic diversity in food, moderated by Dame Ellen Kanner (Miami):
Dame Anita Lau (LA/OC)
Dame Nina Compton (New Orleans)
Amethyst Ganaway (2020 Legacy Award Winner)
Dame Donna Pierce (Chicago)
This event is cause for celebration…and the perfect time to order take away from one or more Dame-owned restaurants or bake shops. Check with your local LDEI Chapter for recommendations.
If you’d rather cook at home, inspiration and some delicious ethnic recipes are just a click away thanks to our panelists.
And didn’t Julia love her butter? Here’s some buttery inspiration [Cheddar Thyme Savory Shortbread] to bake at home compliments of our sponsor Kerrygold.
I know you’re all hoping to be one of our lucky winners…so stay on the call because you must be present to win a fabulous prize, courtesy of Vitamix and Beautiful Briny Sea.
SO – now that you’ve invited a guest, RSVP’d, entered the contest and have your menu and wine selections planned – what’s in store for you?
