July Vegans of the Month — Planted in Miami’s Jeanette and Alex Ruiz

July 26, 2015 by Ellen Kanner Leave a Comment

veganclubWow!  I’m excited to get so many nominations for my new Vegan of the Month feature. Thanks to all who wrote in (and you know who you are).  For July, I’ve chosen not one vegan, but two — Jeanette and Alex Ruiz, better known as that plant-based podcasting pair, Planted in Miami.

They’re long-time locals and newish but ardent vegans. The two became plant-based for health reasons, yogic karma (Jeanette is a yoga instructor) and peak performance (Alex, a photographer and long-distance runner, leads Miami’s No-Meat Athlete chapter). They’re loving how they feel, what they eat and being vegan. “The more we’ve learned about the impact our diet has not only on our health but on the treatment of animals and our planet, we couldn’t see doing anything else,” says Jeanette.

They’ve been spreading the vegan word and love with their recently launched but already acclaimed podcast series, interviewing other Miami locals pursuing conscious eating. “We have fallen in love with podcasting,” says Jeanette “ The entire purpose is to show normal average Joes living a vegan/plant-based lifestyle and making it work. It’s a great excuse to get to know people and have really interesting conversations.”

Find out more about August’s Vegans of the Month at Planted in Miami and keep the delicious conversations going.
